As we race through the trees, I feel nothing but pure elation. I don’t even feel tired. I feel that if I were to jump, I would never touch the ground again. The strange thing about this is, I’m not a physical person. I’ve never had a high endurance level. So, why am I able to run this fast without tiring?
I stop short, noticing the clearing in front of me. Peering through the trees, I find the source of the clanging noise was, in fact, clashing blades. Two fey are dueling. One has black hair and silver eyes, while the other has green eyes and red hair. I know these two: Ash of the Iron Court and Robin Goodfellow. I suppose they’re just sparring for pleasure. Suddenly, Puck lunges forward with his daggers and scratches Ash near his heart. My own heart skips a beat. This is no playful spar. Robin Goodfellow is out for blood.
Ethan and Ben finally catch up and stop beside me. Without turning around, I ask, “Ethan, just what exactly is your brother doing?”
“What do you mean…?” He trails off as he notices the scene in the clearing. He snarls. “Oh, Puck, what are you doing now?”
I draw my sword and step into the clearing. Puck breaks away from Ash, smirking. I narrow my eyes at him. I notice a faint black aura around him. Strange, but I’ve no time to question it. “Alright, I don’t know what’s going on, but I’d like you to step away from the winter fey, Robin Goodfellow.”
Ethan steps into the clearing behind me and says, “Puck, don’t do something you’ll regret! Ash is your friend.”
I have a bad feeling about this. I don’t think…Wait…I don’t know how or why, but somehow I know that this is not the real Robin Goodfellow. I smile and comment, “You’re from that mirror, aren’t you? Tell me, are you the only one who escaped?”
Ash looks confused. I remember now that he’s mostly human, which means he is just as breakable as a human. “Ash, I’d advise stepping away from Puck. That’s not your Robin Goodfellow. He’s from the mirror.”
Not-Puck smiles. “How would a human be able to notice the difference between me and the real Goodfellow?”
Smirking, I reply, “You’re aura: It’s black you idiot!”
“What’s that supposed to mean? That I’m evil or something?”
I sigh. Honestly, am I the only one here who realizes the importance of auras? “It means that you’ve got dark intentions. Now, I’ve never met the real Puck, but I know that he hasn’t done anything evil since he met Meghan. Now, would you kindly put down the dagger and step away from the princeling?”
He lowers his hand and backs away from Ash…only to rush towards me, his dagger held high.
